About us

With the establishment of Faculty of Agriculture in 1960, the Department of Agricultural Extension was started. Before 2017, the subject Agricultural Extension was being taught only at U.G. level. From the academic year 2017-18, the department has started a two year programme as M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agricultural Extension under self-finance scheme. Students are admitted in P.G. programme through entrance exam. The number of seats sanctioned to the department is 15. Agril. Extension Department has been offering high quality education focusing specially in research field with special care to the socially and economically weaker section of the society.

Since inception, the Department of Agricultural Extension has been shaping and brightening the future of students through a collective and interactive teaching-learning environment and time-honored pedagogy. We are purely devoted to create a diverse, progressive and inclusive work environment. We believe, this is the central effort to maximize creativity and innovation in research oriented education in the department. Department of Agricultural Extension has well equipped laboratories for the students. We have most of the ICT tools that students keep using when they go for Farm and Home visit. The students of the department frequently visit the farms and the home of the farmers and try to know their problems and make them aware of the new technologies. Even during the COVID-19, we tried our best to secure the educational journey of our great and cheerful minds by connecting them through online mode. The team of our department is well equipped with online tools i.e. Teachmint App, Google Meet, Zoom App and YouTube etc. Students are also provided facility to give their presentation in seminars through PPT. We keep guiding the students in the preparation of manuscript like assignment, research data compilation, its analysis, research paper writing and reference collection etc. We are in the process of creating smart class room facilities. With this technical mindset in this challenging scenario and incorporating online education in pedagogy, we will improve our aptitude and ensure a bright academic future.
