About us

The college was originally established by Shri Tilak Dhari Singh in 1914 as an English Middle School. Mr. Singh was the first graduate of his community in this district. It was recognized as Kshatriya High School in 1916. It became an intermediate in 1940. It acquired the status of a degree college in July 1947 in affiliation with Agra University. In 1956 its affiliation shifted to Gorakhpur University. The Faculty of Agriculture which was established in 1960 the plant pathology programme began in the year 1996 under self-finance scheme. The students are admitted in the PG programme on the basis of competitive examination. The number of seat available in the department is 15. From the session 2019-20 adopt semester system and course recommended by BSMA of ICAR since then thesis work is mandatory for every student.

The Department of Plant Pathology has been shaping and brightening the future of the younger generations through a collective and interactive teaching-learning environment and time-honored pedagogy. The department is mainly engaged in the teaching profession. We are purely engaged in creating a diverse, progressive and inclusive work environment. We believe this effort is central to maximizing creativity and innovation in research and education within the department. I firmly believe that Department of Agriculture Extension is one of the best nursery platform for our great scientific minds from the outskirts. To overcome and ignore the COVID-19 hurdle and secure educational journey of our great and cheerful minds, the team of our department is well equipped with state-of-the-art online tools i.e. Teachmint App, Google Meet, Zoom App, YouTube etc. The ICT is used for teaching and practical classes. PPT is being used by the faculty when necessary. Students are also provided facility to give there seminar in PPT mode only and preparation of manuscript like assignment, research data compilation, analyses, research paper, reference collection. We are in the process of creating smart class room facilities. With this technical mind set up in this challenging scenario, incorporating online education in pedagogy will improve our aptitude and ensure a bright academic profession.

Departmental Activity

The department has its own research field of 0.5 ha. at Pili Kothi Farm of college as well it has well equipped laboratory, where the student carries their research investigation thoroughly under guidance of their supervisor, and a proper visit of college management being done at successive interval of time on farm as well in the laboratory.

With the implementation of new education policy (NEP) the thesis work become necessary whereas the department conducts the thesis as optional course previously before the implementation of NEP. The research problem being allotted to the student both under IN-Vitro as well IN-Vivo condition.
